The prestigious Aziz Sancar Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2024 is now open for applications. This special program gives top Turkish researchers the chance to work with Nobel Prize winner Professor Dr. Aziz Sancar on cutting-edge research about DNA repair and molecular processes.
Chosen candidates will get to work with Professor Sancar in his cutting-edge lab, getting valuable guidance and boosting their scientific careers. To qualify, you need to be a Turkish citizen and have either finished or nearly finished your PhD.
Benefits:
- Researchers will receive a net stipend of $3,000 each year.
- The scholarship lasts between 12 and 24 months, as set by TÜBİTAK.
- Stipends will be sent directly to the recipient’s bank account, either monthly or quarterly, whether the account is in Turkey or abroad.
Travel Benefits:
- TÜBİTAK will provide one round-trip flight for the scholarship recipient, covering the following costs:
- The scholars themselves.
- Their spouse.
- Up to two children under 18.
- A single child under 12 can be accompanied by a caregiver with at least one month of insurance.
- One parent, sibling, or sibling-in-law can accompany a child under 12.
- All dependents must be under 18, unless noted otherwise.
Applicants need to meet these requirements:
- Citizenship Rule: Must be a citizen of Turkey.
- PhD Requirement: Should either have a recent doctoral degree or be set to finish it within six months of the scholarship’s start.
- Research Match: Your research should closely match what Professor Dr. Aziz Sancar is working on.
- Language Skills: Show strong English skills by meeting one of these criteria: A score of 65 or higher on YDS, e-YDS, or YÖKDİL exams from the past five years, or a recent accepted foreign language exam result from ÖSYM.
- A degree from a Turkish school that teaches in English, at either the bachelor’s or master’s level.
- A degree from a school in another country, either at the bachelor’s or master’s level.

– An official letter from your thesis adviser confirming that you will complete your doctoral diploma or medical specialization certificate within the next six months.
– Proof of English skills:
– A score of at least 65 on the YDS, e-YDS, or YÖKDİL exams taken in the last five years, or
– An equivalent foreign language exam result approved by ÖSYM in the past two years.
– A certificate showing that you’ve completed your undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate studies at a Turkish university where classes are taught in English.
